Planning Ahead

When bringing a pet to BSVESS, it is appreciated if you call ahead. This helps us in planning for surgeries or procedures and to keep from tying up critical staff members when emergencies are on the way. Every pet is triaged upon arrival. Our emergency team treats pets found to be in critical need immediately. Pets assessed as stable are examined by the doctors in the order in which they arrive. Stable patients may experience times when there may be a wait, but we do our very best to minimize the waiting time for all pets.

Primary care veterinarians are sent a copy of the complete medical record and will receive phone and fax updates throughout your pet’s care. This ensures that your family veterinarian will be able to help you with decision-making and provide coordinated follow-up care.

Financing Care

It is the policy of BSVESS that emergency services must be paid for at the time the service is rendered. Due to the high overhead costs associated with operating a 24-hour hospital, BSVESS emergency costs may be higher than those you experience at your regular veterinary office. During your pet’s evaluation, the doctor will advise you of your diagnostic and treatment options and discuss the costs involved. The doctor will work with you to select a course of therapy that will work best for you. If your pet needs to be admitted to our hospital, an estimate will be generated and we will ask you to leave a deposit.
