Only The Best

It takes a special kind of person to be a technician at BSVESS. Our patients have a wide variety of illnesses and injuries, often serious and challenging to treat. Our technicians are skilled and knowledgeable, and most importantly – they truly care.

Intensive Care Unit technicians have advanced training in patient monitoring and specialized nursing skills. These technicians are experienced in oxygen therapy techniques, fluid therapy and constant rate infusions of medication, mechanical ventilation, transfusion administration, and monitoring ekg, blood pressure, pulse oximetry and more. These technicians provide tender loving care, while on the alert for any changes in a patient’s condition that might be of concern.

Emergency Technicians

Emergency technicians assess every patient that comes through the emergency service. Patients are triaged to ensure that those pets with the most critical or urgent problems get the immediate attention they need. They help to deliver life-saving, stabilizing treatments as well as providing basic first aid care for more minor problems. They are well trained to identify the most concerning issues and to provide comfort and information to worried families.

Specialty Technicians

Specialty technicians have the knowledge and skills to assist the specialists with their advanced diagnostics. They are also the people who spend the most time with the pet owners, routinely available to provide advice on the phone, and checking in with clients to ensure that patients are responding to treatment and getting all the needed follow up care.

Technician Assistants

Technician Assistants are an important part of the animal care team at BSVESS. They help keep the hospital running by ensuring that the doctors and technicians have everything they need, 24 hours a day. They help with routine treatments, such as feeding, walking, ensuring the comfort of our patients. They restrain patients for treatments, take xrays, and run labwork. Many of our technician assistants are working on their skills with the goal of becoming an OSVS technician through our in-house training program.
